Mark Llanuza posted Its April 1977 eastbound going past the Owatonna station shared both by the CNW and Milwaukee road. Mark Llanuza posted again Its april 1977 eastbound coming into Owatonna Min station .the line to the far right is the Milwaukee road line to St Paul .Both railroads used this station. Colin Mueller: Owatonna was one of my favorite railroad towns in the '70s! Lots of ALCOs, and just to the west of here was the Rock Island Spine Line. I especially loved how these two railroads crossed right where you're taking this picture and then paralleled each other, a very unique track structure! Mark Llanuza: Colin Mueller it was a very cool place! Of all the years I’ve been there i never saw a Rock Island train Colin Mueller: Mark Llanuza our family reunion was held there every year. I can tell ya that the Rock was the busiest of the 3 lines through most of the 70s. |
Dennis DeBruler commented on Mark's post The depot was at the western junction of the two railroads, https://maps.app.goo.gl/oqPLvtbkZWXK8azc9. 1959 aerial photo 1959 aerial photo [AR1VVN000020033] |
A topo map black rectangle does note the location of the depot.
