South Wenatchee, WA: Great Northern Apple Yard, Roundhouse and Backshop

(Satellite, the stalls are gone, but you can see the foundation of some of the walls. Actually, there are also up to four dots where a stall wall used to be.)

Undated Great Northern Railway Roundhouse, Turntable, Shops and Appleyard, South Wenatchee, Washington. This was Eastern Terminal for electric operations with facilities for both electric and steam locomotives. On right side of photo is a large icing platform for servicing
Refrigerated cars filled with apples that were sent East. Columbia River visible on right.

It looks like just the backshop was still standing in the oldest aerial I could find, 1957. [ARA001600030063]

The description for today's image reads as follows: "Looking down and northwesterly onto the Great Northern Railway's  Appleyard near Wenatchee.  South Wenatchee, with both the Springwater Hotel and the Terminal Hotel visible along the left side.  Seen farther northwest is the South Wenatchee School.  Columbia Ice & Cold Storage Company Plant #3 is the white building at right". This image is possibly from 1927.
Bob Butcher: I am speculating here. Notice by the roundhouse that there is no large brick building that housed the electrics locomotives that ran from Skykomish to Wenatchee from 1927 to 1956 is present. Therefore I think the picture is taken before 1927 or up to that date. That building was pretty well destroyed during the explosion in 1972-ish when the tank car blew up and destroyed of that area.
Dan Bolyard: This is from that short period of time when the intermediate terminals at both Leavenworth and Wilson Creek had been closed and moved to Wenatchee around 1924, and the electrification was extended between Skykomish and Wenatchee in 1928. Three is no sign of catenary for the electrics, let alone the electric shop having been built. I would presume most of the steam engine fleet was still burning coal, the major push to convert them to oil hadn't happened yet, as the coaling dock looks to be in service.

GREAT PHOTO! Thanks for posting! And thanks for the electrification discussion in the comments- attached is a photo most likely from the early '50s (photographer unknown) with the electric shops in place including a box cab electric in front. In the distance, the coaling tower is gone, and in the foreground is an ABBA set of FTs. Also, the ice dock has been extended with a new ice house. Compare to the 1920s photo.
Mike Gray: Richard Shulby where was the beautiful passenger station located in relation to Apple yard?
Richard Shulby: Mike Gray - It was apparently north of the yard in Wenatchee proper at the foot (East end) of Kittatis Street, on the west side of the tracks.
