Port Colborne, ON: Old Gas Station

(3D Satellite)

Historical Niagara posted three images with the comment:
I often post about the Shickluna Shipyard in St Catharines but there is a tie to Port Colborne...
The L.J. Shickluna  Service Station.
Built in 1924 by  The son of Salvador Shickluna who was Loius Shickluna's (famous Mid 1800s Shipbuilder)   Nephew.
Louis Joseph  Shickluna  built a
Spanish Colonial Revival style building with a stucco covering to service the growing number of automobiles in the 1920s. Interesting the property backs onto the Old 1st and Second Canal Location...
In 1950 L.J.passed and a new owner took over and it remained a garage for many years.  I'm unsure when it actually closed (If anyone knows please add)..in the 1990s it was designated ss a heritage site . It will be interesting to see what the Future holds for this place ...
Located on King Street just  North of the Clarence St Bridge ..
****UPDATE****
The building is under renovation ! Great to hear ...thanks to all who added this information...
Ronny Totten: I think it's one of the very first gas stations.
Noah Sidney: I saw that they were removing the old gas tanks in the ground a couple months ago, and there seems to be some general clean-up going on, so I wonder what they have planned!
Those unearthed gas tanks stunk so bad 😂

[The pumps are the old glass cylinder design. I can't read the brand.]
