In 1913 the Reading expanded shops and yards in Saint Clair making it the "largest classified coal yard in the world." There were 63 tracks that covered 46.5 miles with a capacity for 2,861 cars. The Reading's only full-circle roundhouse had 52 stalls. Over 1,200 men and 25 supervisors were employed here when it was working at full capacity.

St. Clair Coal Yard
The St. Clair Coal Yard opened in 1913 on what had been swap land on the south side of St. Clair.  The yard had 45.5 miles of track, could hold 2,861 cars, and at one time had 1,200 employees.
The site was sold in 1868 and became the St. Clair Industrial Park.
