Philip E. Martin posted B&O Station in Youngstown, Ohio. The station was built in 1905 for Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The station is located on the banks of the Mahoning River in Downtown Youngstown. The property also has a deck to view the river along with iron lanterns. B&O operated from 1905-1971. Amtrak later took over the station in 1971. From 1990-1995 Amtrak ran Broadway Limited. From 1997-2005 Amtrak ran the Three Rivers Limited, which ran from NYC to Chicago. Some of the stops included Youngstown, Pittsburgh, and Akron. Today the former station is used as a banquet hall for events. What I like about this photo is the gargoyle located above the Portes-cochères or coach gateway. The red roof also goes really well with the brick facade. I also really like the rustic lanterns as well. The older train stations really have character. It's a beautiful relic from a bygone era. Have a great day. Taken 2/4/24 Tim Tompkins shared |
I started looking north of the river, but this map then taught me that the B&O was on the south side of the river.
