Historic Design Consulting LLC posted Here’s another ca. 1910 photograph from the great state of Iowa. This one shows the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Ry depot in Grand River, IA. I can’t tell if a train has just departed or is about to arrive, but there’s plenty of freight to handle all around the platform. I am especially intrigued by the Dilbert tie on the station agent. Steven Holding: I would say the train has come and gone. Loaded off the frt. wagon and unloaded on the ground and the agent is sorting it out before moving into the Frt house for delivery. The railroad was abandoned by 1954, which is the oldest topo map that is available.

Did Grand River previously have the name of De Kalb?
