Hauser, ID: BNSF/NP Railyard and Refueling Station for Northern Transcon Trains

(Satellite)

These refueling pads are on the mainline and service all trains going between the Northwest and the Twin Cities & Chicago.

"Idaho is also home to BNSF’s refueling facility at Hauser, where approximately 32 trains are serviced daily. A quick-stop process enables trains to transport freight more efficiently and reduces wait times. In addition to generating hundreds of jobs, the Hauser fueling facility has raised the bar in environmental protection. No other facility throughout North Idaho or the Spokane Valley is equipped with the level of environmental monitoring and detection systems found at the Hauser depot." [BNSF]

On Sept. 1, 2024, a motor vehicle train (at left) fuels on Main 6 at Hauser next to an empty coal train fueling on Main 5.

This is the first time I've seen a sheltered refueling pad. It is nice to see that a Class I railroad cares about the comfort of its employees. Or is it the equipment that they are protecting?
