West: (Satellite, it is now a hospital.)
Mike Patrick posted two photos with the comment: "Marquette MI roundhouse, being timid to go inside, we shot the 397 outside and these two views, I don't know the engine numbers, but I don't see any new SOO paint on these and two appear to still have DSS&A paint, We were hopping for DSS&A units, but took what we could. 10-65, or possibly 9-65."
Tony Foster: They did however build a multi-million dollar hospital in the same location. That was interesting.

Mike Patrick posted, cropped Marquette MI finds the 397 sitting by the roundhouse 10-65. This was the only time I saw one of these beasts, Never on the road. Aa side note, I appreciate your likes and comments, B&W unlike slides didn't make the rounds of slide shows. B&W film was developed, printed, and went into a box or drawer. Thanks to digital, I'm about to share and remember some of the good times Thanks Covid for getting me organized (a little) [It appears that 397 is a Baldwin Center Cab, and they are indeed huge.] Andrew Roth: The DSS&A added the brick extension to the west (left side of the photo) to its roundhouse when it started operating the diesel locomotives. Jeremy Winkworth: It was the only one that got the Soo Line red and white paint job. Jerry Bakke: Who built it and what model is it? Dennis DeBruler: Jerry Bakke Since a comment by Jeremy Winkworth in https://www.facebook.com/groups/280781616123369/posts/1628049784729872/ said it is the same as the center cab at the IRM, 397 would be a Baldwin Center Cab DT 6-6-2000. See "1931 Aban/Soo Ore Dock and Lost Spear Coal Dock" for the docks that were east of the railyard.

Sometimes I save a post because the comments are informative.
Mike Patrick posted Another view of the 397 in Marquette MI on 10-65. |
Jeremy Winkworth commented on Mike's post There's one of these giants still in existence at the Illinois Railway Museum. [This confirms that 397 is a Baldwin Center Cab.] |
