Water Tower: (Satellite)
G&GE = Galesburg & Great Eastern
Dennis DeBruler commented on Andy's post and Dennis' share below At least the roof is in good shape. https://maps.app.goo.gl/dJeuT1bGBXyUoaAC8 Tom Horvath: Dennis DeBruler Last I saw it was like a bait shop or sportsman's shop. |
Andy Zukowski posted Galesburg & Great Eastern's Engine House, Water Tank and Coal Tower. Near Victoria, Illinois. 1958 Davis Shroomberg: Apparently the water tower still exists, although now overgrown and surrounded by trees. That's what comments in other groups indicate anyway. Dennis DeBruler commented on Davis' comment Judging from this 1957 aerial photo, it may be this brown dot: https://maps.app.goo.gl/urPe1GR9MTMfKuXy7. You can clearly see traces of the siding and mainline on this satellite image. |
I labelled the G&GE railroad as an industrial road because it was built to connect some coal mines to a nearby CB&Q branch at Wataga. Some of those coal mines were the Little John and Midland Electric Mecco.
