Tim Born posted I wanted to reach out to this group for some assistance. The photo below is of the Metamora, IL GM&O Train Depot that served the line running from Peoria up through Metamora to Dwight and ultimately to Chicago. As you may know, the line serviced the community from late 1870 until 1979 when the railway ceased operations. The 100 yr old Depot was carefully disassembled by my wife’s family and placed in private storage where it has remained for the past 44 years. We are now looking for a permanent home for it to ideally be reassembled and showcased once more. I am unsure what groups or individuals might have such means and interest so I am reaching out to you today. Please feel free to share with anyone who might have a desire to possess and restore this incredibe piece of our local history. It was the curve in the track in this photo that allowed me to identify the location as the northwest quadrant of the tracks and Mt. Vernon Street. Note that Mt. Vernon doesn't appear to be paved.
