WVNC Rails posted After World War II, Weston, WV became the endpoint of a truncated B&O branch extending from Clarksburg. But during the early 20th century, it was considerably more. Originally, the West Virginia and Pittsburg(h) Railway constructed the railroad to Weston where a junction was located. One branch diverged and ran generally east through Buckhannon and to Pickens in Randolph County. The other ran basically south to Burnsville with the line eventually reaching Richwood. A short branch also extended from this line to serve Sutton. All of this was absorbed into the B&O in 1912 and by later additions.. This photo freezes Weston during its railroad prime of the early B&O years. The engine house, shops, and yard emphasize its importance on the line extending into central West Virginia. Weston was also the southern end of the Monongahela Electric Railway interurban system that served Clarksburg and Fairmont. Image WV and Regional History Keith Grubb shared Robert Curtis Kiddy: Sadly, only the building on the far right is what’s left of the complex. In my lifetime (1961 to present) it was the school bus garage. It is now sitting empty as the Board of Education moved out. The other matching shop building and roundhouse were demolished before I was born and all that has been replaced by newer structures. Time, nature and man are removing many of the vestiges of the railroad history of Weston and Lewis County. Tom Dunne shared Dennis DeBruler shared |
Herron Birding commented on the above post It's at the south end of main street across the river from the main road. My Grandfather worked there......here's a picture. |
Dennis DeBruler commented on his share The building on the far right is extant, https://maps.app.goo.gl/wKvXHArtyrGR1g856 Tim Starr: DeBruler Yes the fact that one of those buildings still stands is pretty crazy. |
Robert Curtis Kiddy commented on Keith's share 2/23/24: This is the building on the far right in the above picture. |
The depot is near the bottom of this aerial and the turntable and backshop are near the upper-right corner.

By 1958, the segment between Weston and Burnsville was gone.
