"Town:" (Satellite)
I put "town" in quotes because I could find just a school on a 1928 topo map.
Lisa Ruble posted Depot at Perry Springs Station in Versailles Township, Brown County, Illinois. The man by the horse is Oscar Pouder of Chambersburg. Mr. Pouder carried mail and passengers from the depot to Perry Springs in Pike County, Illinois, and back. People arrived at the springs in buggies, carriages and Oscar Pouder's hack. "Poud" as he was called, transported folks from Perry Springs Station depot and carried the mail for 50 years. Poud had a peg leg. Perry Springs was located in Pike County. The Perry Springs Depot was located in Brown County. There was no railroad to Perry Springs. Richard Fiedler shared Wabash Keokuk branch. Dennis DeBruler: Thanks to a label on a topo map, this was the first time that it was easier to find the depot than the town. https://towns-and-nature.blogspot.com/2024/07/perry-springs-il-lostwabash-depot.html Richard Fiedler shared |
Depot Location
I included the bridge over the Illinois at Meredosia for context to help locate this excerpt. Note the "Perry Springs Sta." label.
