Shumway, IL: Lost/Wabash Depot

(Satellite. west of the tracks and just north of Main Street.)

Good morning! Today's picture takes us to Banner Township and the Village of Shumway, Illinois.
This shows the depot for the Wabash Railroad. I imagine that there are people now that do not realize that a railroad went through the town of Shumway. I believe this depot was moved and is now the center section of a house in Shumway.
Here is some more information about that railroad line along with its first name and and the name change it experienced later.
The Chicago & Paducah Railroad
The Chicago and Paducah Railroad entered Effingham County from the North and went to Shumway, Illinois. From there it split into two branches one going on to Altamont, Illinois and the other going to Effingham, Illinois. The Chicago & Paducah was bought by the Wabash Railroad on April 5th, 1880. The line was abandoned in 1936 from Effingham to Bement.
In Effingham, the depot for the Wabash Railroad was located on Fayette Street near West Side School. That depot is now located on Section Street in Effingham and is Henderson State Farm.
Wherever you may be, I wish you a wonderful day!

The oldest topo map I could find was 1950, and this Wabash branch had already been abandoned.

1938 Aerial Photo from ILHAP

At the bottom of the above aerial photo I included the wye where the Wabash branch from Bement forked to go to Altamont and Effingham.

Good morning! Today's picture takes us to Banner Township and the village of Shumway, Illinois.
This is from a newspaper clipping and it shows the water tower for trains coming through Shumway at a time when the trains had steam engines. I imagine that there are people now that do not realize that a railroad went through the town of Shumway.
As you can see, the weather must have been very cold and the water froze pretty much immediately. I'm not sure of the exact location of this train water tower but it wouldn't have been far from Shumway or perhaps just on the outskirts. Please share with us if you know where this tower might have been located.
Here is some information about the railroad that once came through Shumway.

When this railroad closed in 1936, that made it very hard for the flour mill to ship out its products as well as for farmers to get their crops to market. In 1936 the road to Effingham or Beecher City from Shumway was a dirt road and hard to navigate in bad weather.
Wherever you may be, I wish you a wonderful day!
Thomas French: While some railroad water tanks were well fed or even city water fed, most that I have come across were fed either by rivers or lakes or ponds, as well as man made reservoirs. I have no proof, but I believe latter was the case at Shumway. Looking at the 1938 aerial view, there appears to be an out of place body of water very near what appears to be the depot. The water tank might even be in the view, though it could just be a round tree as it is off the ROW a bit - not unheard of either, but not ideal. But I do believe that all things being equal, that the water tank would have been near that body of water that still exists to this day. https://clearinghouse.isgs.illinois.edu/.../0bgk03067.jpg
