Chicago & North Western Historical Society posted The reverse of this photo says that we are looking at a photo of a "Sycamore & Cortland" (Illinois) train waiting at Cortland "for a main-line connection" in the winter of 1899. Dennis DeBruler commented on Richard's share I knew that C&NW had a branch that went up to Sycamore from DeKalb. I did not know that it had a second branch that went to Sycamore from Courtland. 1937/37 Sycamore Quad @ 62,500

I don't see any grain elevators in the 1939 photo, but it does have one now.
