Winamac, IN: Kokomo/Cargill/Central Soya Grain Elevator, First Unit Trains in Indiana

(Satellite)

Pennsy is the railroad that used to serve this elevator.

Street View, Oct 2023

Brett Ellis posted four photos with the comment: "Kokomo Grain in Winamac, Indiana. Originally a 100 car train loader for Central Soya in the 70's when unit trains first came to Indiana.  It then became a Cargill location and eventually the rail was removed.  It's now used for Waxy corn."
David Brier: Waxy corn looks just like regular dent. Except inside the starch is 2 times more.
David Brier: They haul that corn to Tate & Lyle north plant in Lafayette. They definitely have a lot of feeder elevators for that plant.
Brett Ellis: David Brier it's Priment now.
