Here we see the Frisco Roundhouse at Fort Scott, Kansas
The Round house was originally built by the Kansas City Fort Scott & Memphis R.R. Then later acquired by the Frisco in 1901.
The thirty stall roundhouse at Ft. Scott, Kansas was the largest facility of its type on the Frisco. Actually a combination of two separate structures, consisting of the original nineteen stalls built in 1906 and a later addition of eleven stalls between 1920 and 1923, its size was indicative of the importance of this easter Kansas division point.
A busy junction of the original Kansas City to Oklahoma main line and the later built route to Memphis, its completely encircled turntable felt the weight of every major class steam locomotive on the system including the 2-8-8-2 mallets.
In August 26 1926 the old turntable was replaced with a larger 100ft turntable at a cost of $42,000.
The Roundhouse was razed in 1957.
